Tad Jones Biography
Tad Jones (Thaddeus Bunol Jones, September 19, 1952 - January 1, 2007) was an American music historian and researcher. Born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana, Jones developed a deep passion for the music and history of his hometown. He conducted significant oral history interviews with musicians while still in his teens and continued his research throughout his life. Jones is best known for his extensive research on Louis Armstrong, which definitively established and documented Armstrong's correct birth date as August 4, 1901. He graduated from Loyola University New Orleans and served as the Music Director of the university's radio station, WLDC, from 1971 to 1974. Jones's expertise and promotion of New Orleans music influenced the programming of record companies and radio stations across the United States.
