Tahir Shah

Tahir Shah is a British author, journalist, and documentary maker of Afghan-Indian descent. Born on November 16, 1966, he comes from the saadat of Paghman, an esteemed family from Afghanistan. With ancestral titles and lands granted by the British Raj, his ancestors ruled as Nawabs in Sardhana, India. Tahir's mother, Cynthia Kabraji, was of Zoroastrian Parsi heritage, and his father was the renowned Indian Sufi teacher and writer, Idries Shah. His grandfathers, Sirdar Ikbal Ali Shah and Fredoon Kabraji, were both respected literary figures. Tahir's elder sister is documentary filmmaker Saira Shah, and his twin sister is author Safia Nafisa Shah. Tahir Shah has accomplished success as an author, journalist, and documentary maker.
