Ted Barton
Ted Barton (born c. 1955) is a Canadian former competitive figure skater. He achieved success in the 1975 Nebelhorn Trophy where he won the championship and at the 1975 Grand Prix International St. Gervais where he earned the silver medal. Barton was born in Auckland, New Zealand but moved to British Columbia, Canada at a young age. During his competitive career, he was a member of Capilano WC and won the silver medal in the 1970 Canadian novice men's competition and the national junior championship in 1973. Barton's contributions to figure skating extend beyond his competitive success. He is the executive director of Skate Canada BC/Yukon Division and developed an instant replay system that was adopted by the International Skating Union (ISU). In recognition of his achievements, Barton was inducted into British Columbia's Sports Hall of Fame in 2008. He has also made significant contributions to the ISU, including his proposal for streaming videos of the ISU Junior Grand Prix series and providing commentary and interviews for various skating events.
