Ted Lieu

Ted W. Lieu is an American attorney, politician, and retired military officer. He was born on March 29, 1969. Lieu has represented California's 36th congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives since 2023, previously representing the 33rd congressional district from 2015 to 2023. He is one of 18 naturalized U.S. citizens serving in Congress, having emigrated from Taiwan at the age of 3. Before his political career, Lieu served in the United States Air Force Judge Advocate General's Corps from 1995 to 1999. He also served as a California State Senator from 2011 to 2014 and as a California State Assemblyman from 2005 to 2010. Lieu is known for representing the South Bay and Westside regions of Los Angeles, including Beverly Hills, Santa Monica, and the Palos Verdes Peninsula.
