Thomas Ian Griffith is an American actor, screenwriter, and martial artist. Born on March 18, 1962, in Hartford, Connecticut, Griffith is best known for his role as Terry Silver in the 1989 film The Karate Kid Part III, a character he later reprised in the television series Cobra Kai. He made his screen-acting debut on the soap opera Another World, portraying Catlin Ewing from 1984 to 1987. Griffith attended South Catholic High School in Hartford and studied at the College of the Holy Cross before leaving to pursue acting. With a passion for taekwondo, he earned a black belt at the age of 18, which eventually aided him in securing acting roles.
