Timothy Andrew Moriarty (May 5, 1923 – January 23, 2006) was an American sports journalist. Born in Southbridge, Massachusetts, Moriarty began his career as the chief sports editor, photographer, and general assistant at the Southbridge Press. In 1965, he joined Newsday and became the beat reporter for the New York Islanders, covering their dynasty seasons from 1979 to 1983 when they won the Stanley Cup four times. Moriarty was elected vice president of the National Hockey League Writers' Association in 1970 and served on the Hockey Hall of Fame Selection Committee from 1977 to 1993. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1986.
