Sir Timothy Miles Bindon Rice, born on November 10, 1944, is an English lyricist and author. He is widely recognized for his successful collaborations with various notable figures in the entertainment industry. Rice worked with Disney on projects such as Aladdin, the Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, and the Broadway musical Aida. He also partnered with Björn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson of ABBA to create the musical Chess, and with Andrew Lloyd Webber on Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Jesus Christ Superstar, and Evita, among others. Rice's talents extend beyond Disney and musical theater, having written lyrics for the Alan Menken musical King David, and for DreamWorks Animation's The Road to El Dorado. Knighted by Queen Elizabeth II in 1994, Rice has received numerous accolades, including a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, induction into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1999, and being named a Disney Legend. He is also a fellow of the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers, and Authors.
