    Tim Russert (May 7, 1950 – June 13, 2008) was an American television journalist and lawyer. He is best known for his 16-year tenure as the longest-serving moderator of NBC's Meet the Press. Russert also held positions as senior vice president at NBC News and Washington bureau chief. He hosted his own weekend interview program on CNBC/MSNBC. Russert frequently appeared as a correspondent and guest on NBC's The Today Show and Hardball. He covered multiple presidential elections and presented the NBC News/Wall Street Journal survey during the 2008 U.S. presidential election. Russert was named one of Time magazine's 100 most influential people in the world in 2008. He posthumously revealed as a source for columnist Robert Novak.
