Toby Daniel Moorsom Young (born 17 October 1963) is a British social commentator, founder and director of the Free Speech Union, and an associate editor of The Spectator. After graduating from the University of Oxford, Young co-founded the London magazine Modern Review in 1991. He gained recognition for his 2001 memoir, How to Lose Friends & Alienate People, which chronicled his time at Vanity Fair. Young has written for various publications including The Times, The Sun on Sunday, and The Daily Telegraph. He also served as a judge on seasons five and six of the television show Top Chef. Young co-founded the West London Free School and directed the New Schools Network. He has been involved in several controversies throughout his career, including advocating for genetically engineered intelligence.
