Tom Junod

Tom Junod (born April 9, 1958) is an American journalist known for his work in several prominent magazines. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the State University of New York at Albany in 1980. Junod joined Esquire magazine in 1997, where he worked as a writer and produced award-winning pieces. He has also contributed to Atlanta magazine, Life, and Sports Illustrated. Notably, Junod gained attention for his controversial 2001 piece on R.E.M. lead singer Michael Stipe. Currently, Junod is a writer for ESPN The Magazine. He is recognized for his transformative encounter with Fred Rogers, which profoundly impacted his perspective on life.
