Tom Pickett

Tom Pickett, born Thomas Augustus Pickett on August 14, 1906, was a United States representative from Texas's 7th congressional district. Pickett grew up in Iola and later moved to Palestine, Texas. He completed his education at the University of Texas at Austin, where he studied law and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1929. Pickett began his law practice in Palestine and went on to serve as County Attorney of Anderson County and District Attorney of the Third Judicial District of Texas. In 1944, he won the Democratic primary and was elected to the Seventy-ninth Congress. Pickett served in Congress from 1945 until his retirement. He passed away on June 7, 1980.
