Val Demings

Val Demings is an American politician and former police officer. Born on March 12, 1957, she served as the U.S. representative from FL's 10th congressional district from 2017 to 2023. Demings made history as the first female chief of the Orlando Police Department, where she worked for 27 years. She also served as the first lady of Orange County, Florida, since December 4, 2018, alongside her husband Jerry Demings, who became the mayor. Demings was the Democratic nominee for Florida's 10th congressional district in both 2012 and 2016, winning the seat in 2016 after redistricting. She is known for her dedication to public service and law enforcement.
