Victoria Cruz is an American LGBT rights activist and retired domestic violence counselor. She is known for her activism during the era of the Stonewall riots and her participation in the first Gay Pride march in 1970. Cruz was born in Guánica, Puerto Rico and moved to Red Hook, Brooklyn at a young age. She came out as transgender early in life and received support from her family. Cruz graduated from high school with a cosmetology license and later studied theater at Brooklyn College. She worked as a stripper and dancer in clubs in the West Village and was a contemporary of activists Marsha P. Johnson and Sylvia Rivera. Cruz is featured in the 2017 documentary 'The Death and Life of Marsha P. Johnson.'
