Vin Scully (November 29, 1927 – August 2, 2022) was an American sportscaster known for his legendary broadcast work in Major League Baseball. Born in the Bronx, Scully attended Fordham University where he played baseball before transitioning into broadcasting and journalism. He was hired by the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1950 and continued with the team when they moved to Los Angeles in 1958. Scully's distinctive tenor voice and lyrically descriptive style made him one of the greatest baseball broadcasters of all time. He served as the play-by-play announcer for the Dodgers for an incredible sixty-seven years, the longest tenure of any broadcaster with a single team in professional sports history. Scully retired in 2016 at the age of 88, leaving behind a remarkable legacy in the world of sports broadcasting.
