Walter F. Kelly Biography
Walter F. Kelly, also known as Mike Kelly, was an American football player, coach, and physician. Born on January 13, 1874, he had a diverse career in sports and medicine. Kelly served as the head football coach at the University of Texas at Austin and Butler University, achieving a career college football record of 10–14. He also coached basketball at Butler and was the school's head baseball coach. Alongside his coaching career, Kelly pursued a medical degree at Indiana Medical College, graduating in 1906. He practiced as a physician in Marion County, Indiana for over 54 years until his passing on March 1, 1961, in Indianapolis.
