He studied at Durham University and graduated in 2011 with a Modern Languages degree. Fletcher's career highlights include winning a bronze medal at the 2013 World Rowing Championships in Chungju as part of the lightweight coxless four team. Additionally, he earned a silver medal at the 2015 World Rowing Championships in France as part of the lightweight double scull team. At the 2016 Summer Olympics, Fletcher, alongside Richard Chambers, placed seventh in the men's lightweight double sculls event.
