    Will Rogers Biography
    William Penn Adair Rogers (November 4, 1879 – August 15, 1935) was a Native American vaudeville performer, actor, and humorist. Born in the Cherokee Nation in what is now Oklahoma, he gained fame as a witty social commentator and became known as 'Oklahoma's Favorite Son'. Rogers achieved success in the entertainment industry, making 71 films including 50 silent films and 21 'talkies'. He also wrote over 4,000 nationally syndicated newspaper columns. Known for his political wit, Rogers was one of the highest paid Hollywood film stars of his time. Sadly, he passed away in 1935 in a plane crash in northern Alaska, along with aviator Wiley Post.
