William Bennett
William John Bennett (born July 31, 1943) is an American conservative politician, political commentator, and former government official. He served as the Secretary of Education from 1985 to 1988 under President Ronald Reagan and was also the Director of the Office of National Drug Control Policy under President George H. W. Bush. Bennett was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, and later moved to Washington, D.C. He attended Gonzaga College High School and graduated from Williams College in 1965. He received his Ph.D. in political philosophy from the University of Texas at Austin in 1970 and later obtained a J.D. from Harvard Law School in 1971.
