William Singer
William Singer is an American lawyer, politician, consultant, and lobbyist. He formerly served as a Chicago alderman, representing the 44th and 43rd wards during his aldermanic career. As an independent reformer tied to the lakefront liberals, Singer was recognized for his opposition to the political machine led by Richard J. Daley. He partnered with Jesse Jackson to unseat Daley and his slate of delegates at the 1972 Democratic National Convention, marking Daley's biggest political defeat. Singer later joined the law firm Kirkland & Ellis as a partner after his career in electoral politics. He has not run for political office since.
