    Xi Jinping Biography
    Xi Jinping (born 15 June 1953) is a Chinese politician and the current general secretary of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC), and president of the People's Republic of China (PRC). He has been the paramount leader of China since 2012. Xi belongs to the fifth generation of Chinese leadership. As a teenager, Xi was exiled to rural Yanchuan County during the Cultural Revolution. He joined the CCP and worked as the local party secretary in the village of Liangjiahe. Xi later studied chemical engineering at Tsinghua University and climbed the political ranks in China's coastal provinces. He served as governor of Fujian from 1999 to 2002 and later became governor and party secretary of Zhejiang.
