Drive My Car follows Yusuke Kafuku, a Japanese stage actor and director mourning his wife's death, who accepts a commission to stage Uncle Vanya at a Hiroshima festival. He hires Misaki, a reserved young driver; during their drives, personal histories and concealed truths emerge, reshaping relationships around the production process.
