The Eyes of Ghana follows Chris Tsui Hesse, Kwame Nkrumah’s former cinematographer, who preserves and returns more than 1,300 reels documenting Ghana’s and Africa’s 1950s–60s independence era. Facing age and impending blindness, he transfers the archive to a protégé to arrange public screenings of previously unseen footage in Accra venues.
