On a remote Orkney island, siblings Isla and Sandy live in isolation decades after parents' disappearance, sustaining themselves by hunting seabirds and engaging with local myths. Their routine is overturned when Daniel, a land-recovery coordinator sent to relocate them, arrives and Isla begins seeing a sea-dwelling figure called the Finman.
