David Emmanuel Paymer (born August 30, 1954) is an American actor and television director. With a career spanning over four decades, Paymer has appeared in numerous films such as Mr. Saturday Night, Quiz Show, Searching for Bobby Fischer, City Slickers, Crazy People, State and Main, Payback, Get Shorty, Carpool, The American President, The Hurricane, Ocean's Thirteen, and Drag Me to Hell. He received critical acclaim and an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor for his role in the 1992 film Mr. Saturday Night. Paymer, born in Oceanside, New York, is of Jewish descent and graduated from the University of Michigan with a BA in theater and psychology. He is married to Liz Georges, and they have two children.
