Abigail Spanberger

Abigail Spanberger, born on August 7, 1979, is an American politician and former CIA officer. She has been serving as the U.S. representative from VA's 7th congressional district since 2019, representing the Democratic Party. Spanberger made history by defeating Republican incumbent Dave Brat in 2018, breaking the Republican Party's 38-year hold on the district. She successfully won reelection in both 2020 and 2022. Born in Red Bank, New Jersey, Spanberger moved to Virginia at the age of 13. She attended John Randolph Tucker High School and later worked as a page for U.S. Senator Chuck Robb. Spanberger holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Virginia and a Master of Business Administration from a joint program between the GISMA Business School in Germany and Purdue University's Krannert School of Management.
