    Brett 'Ace' Young (born November 15, 1980) is an American singer, songwriter, and actor. He gained national recognition as a contestant on the fifth season of American Idol. Young, the youngest of five sons, was raised in Boulder, Colorado. He began writing songs and taking voice lessons at age 9, performing at various venues in Colorado and other western states. Young graduated from Fairview High School in Boulder in 1999 and earned the rank of Eagle Scout. After high school, he wrote a song called 'Reason I Live,' featured on the soundtrack of the 2000 film The Little Vampire. Young has since pursued a career in music and acting.
