Aisling Bea, born Aisling Clíodhnadh O'Sullivan on March 16, 1984, is an Irish comedian, actress, and writer. She gained recognition for creating, writing, and starring in the comedy series 'This Way Up' on Channel 4. Aisling won the 'So You Think You're Funny?' award at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2012, becoming the second woman to win the award in its 25-year history. She has made appearances on popular comedy panel shows like QI and 8 Out of 10 Cats. Born in Kildare, Ireland, Aisling adopted the stage surname 'Bea' as a tribute to her father, Brian, who was a horse veterinarian and passed away when she was three years old.
