Akilah Saidah Kamaria Hughes is an American writer, comedian, YouTuber, podcaster, and actress. Born on August 31, 1989, in Florence, Kentucky, she attended Boone County High School and later graduated from Berea College with a Bachelor of Arts in Broadcasting in 2010. Hughes gained popularity through her YouTube channel, 'It's Akilah, Obviously!', which has over 150,000 subscribers. She has worked as a digital correspondent for MTV, HBO, Fusion TV, and Comedy Central. From October 2019 to July 2021, she co-hosted the Crooked Media podcast 'What a Day' with journalist Gideon Resnick. Hughes moved to New York City in 2012 and earned a scholarship from the Upright Citizens Brigade.
