Albert Arnold Gore Jr. is an American politician, businessman, and environmentalist. Born on March 31, 1948, he served as the 45th vice president of the United States from 1993 to 2001 under President Bill Clinton. Gore was the Democratic nominee for president in the 2000 election, but lost the electoral college vote to George W. Bush, despite winning the popular vote. He is one of only five presidential candidates in American history to have this distinction. Prior to his political career, Gore was an elected official for 24 years, serving as a U.S. representative from Tennessee. He is also a prominent environmentalist, advocating for action on climate change.
