Al Jarreau Biography
Al Jarreau (March 12, 1940 – February 12, 2017) was an American singer and musician known for his contributions to the pop and R&B genres. His breakthrough album, Breakin' Away, released in 1981, spent two years on the Billboard 200 chart and won him a Grammy Award for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance. Throughout his career, Jarreau won a total of seven Grammy Awards and received numerous nominations. He is also known for singing the theme song of the 1980s TV series Moonlighting and for his participation in the 1985 charity song 'We Are the World.' Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Jarreau grew up in a musical family and performed with his parents at church events and benefits.
