    Al Rosen Biography
    Al Rosen (1924-2015), also known as 'Flip' and 'The Hebrew Hammer', was an American baseball third baseman and right-handed slugger. He played for the Cleveland Indians in Major League Baseball for ten seasons in the 1940s and 1950s. Rosen served in the U.S. Navy during World War II before starting his career with the Cleveland Indians in 1947. Known for his offensive and defensive skills, Rosen had a .285 career batting average, hitting 192 home runs and driving in 717 runs in 1,044 games. He was a four-time All-Star, twice leading the league in home runs and RBIs, and was named AL Most Valuable Player. After retiring from baseball, Rosen worked as a stockbroker and later returned to the game as a top front office executive.
