Alan Hugh Dale (born May 6, 1947) is a New Zealand actor known for his work in both Australia and the United States. After retiring from rugby, Dale decided to pursue a career in acting at the age of 27. He gained recognition for his role as Dr. John Forrest in the Australian drama series The Young Doctors from 1979 to 1982. Dale then went on to portray Jim Robinson in the long-running Australian soap opera Neighbours from 1985 to 1993. He reprised this role for one episode in 2018. In the United States, Dale has had notable roles in television series such as The O.C. (as Caleb Nichol) and Ugly Betty (as Bradford Meade).
