Alan Rosenberg (born October 4, 1950) is an American actor known for his portrayal of Eli Levinson in the series Civil Wars and L.A. Law. Additionally, he served as the president of the Screen Actors Guild from 2005 to 2009. Rosenberg was born and raised in Passaic, New Jersey, and grew up in a Conservative Jewish household. He comes from a talented family, with his late brother, Mark, being a political activist and film producer, and his cousin, Donald Fagen, co-founder of the group Steely Dan. After graduating from Case Western Reserve University in 1972, Rosenberg pursued his passion for poker, which led to financial difficulties. However, he managed to afford one application to the Yale School of Drama, where he studied before starting his acting career.
