Alan John Scarfe (born 8 June 1946) is a British–Canadian actor, stage director, and author. He is known for his roles in various movies and TV shows. Scarfe has had a successful career spanning several decades, earning recognition and accolades for his performances. He won the 1985 Genie Award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role for his role in The Bay Boy, and received two other Genie best actor nominations for Deserters (1984) and Overnight (1986). In addition, he received a Gemini Award nomination for best actor in aka Albert Walker (2003). Scarfe also won a Jessie Award for best actor in 2005 for his performance in Trying at the Vancouver Playhouse. He has been recognized for his contributions to the film industry with the Vancouver Film Critics Circle honorary award for lifetime achievement. Scarfe was born in Harpenden, England, and later moved to Canada. He comes from an academic background, with both of his parents being university professors.
