He attended the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and gained recognition in the early 1960s with his debut in The Entertainer (1960). Finney's notable films include Saturday Night and Sunday Morning (1960), Tom Jones (1963), Scrooge (1970), Annie (1982), Erin Brockovich (2000), Big Fish (2003), and Skyfall (2012). He received several awards including BAFTA, Golden Globe, Emmy, Screen Actors Guild, Silver Bear, and Volpi Cup.
