Albert Popwell Biography
Albert Popwell (July 15, 1926 – April 9, 1999) was an American stage, television, and film actor known for his roles opposite Clint Eastwood. Beginning his career as a professional dancer, Popwell made his Broadway debut at the age of 16. He appeared in numerous television series throughout his career, but gained recognition for his appearances in Clint Eastwood's films. Popwell played different characters in each of the first four Dirty Harry films, and was the bank robber in Dirty Harry (1971) who received Eastwood's iconic 'Do I feel lucky?' monologue. He portrayed a murderous pimp in Magnum Force (1973), militant Big Ed Mustapha in The Enforcer (1976), and Harry's detective colleague Horace King in Sudden Impact (1983). Popwell's career spanned six decades, and he was widely regarded for his versatile acting skills.
