Albert Valentine Biography
Albert Finch Valentine (3 June 1907 – 12 March 1990) was a footballer who played as a forward in England and Wales during the 1920s and 1930s. He played for Wigan Borough F.C. in 1931, Chester, Crewe Alexandra, and Macclesfield Town. Valentine's most notable season was with Macclesfield Town in 1933/1934, where he scored 82 league and cup goals, a record that still stands. He then joined Halifax Town for a fee of £500 and made his league debut on 25 August 1934, scoring in a 2–1 victory over Mansfield Town. Valentine had several high-scoring games during his career, including a five-goal match against New Brighton. He also scored four goals in a game twice and a hat-trick against Hartlepool United.
