Alberta Ferretti

Alberta Ferretti is an Italian fashion designer and dressmaker known for her namesake brand, Alberta Ferretti. She also designed for Philosophy di Alberta Ferretti until 2014. Born in Cattolica, near Rimini, Italy, Ferretti opened her first boutique, Jolly, in 1968. She co-founded a publicly traded clothing manufacturer and distributor in 1976. Ferretti started showcasing her seasonal collections in Milan in 1981 and launched Ferretti Jeans Philosophy in 1989, later renamed Philosophy di Alberta Ferretti. In 1994, she renovated a 13th-century castle into the Palazzo Viviani hotel in Montegridolfo. Ferretti has been recognized in the fashion industry and was invited to a reception at 10 Downing Street by Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher in October 1988.More
