Alessandro Cortini is an Italian musician known for his roles in various bands and as a solo artist. Born on May 24, 1976, in Bologna and raised in Forlì, Cortini moved to the United States to study guitar at the Musicians Institute. While he initially pursued a career as a guitarist, he became best known as the keyboard, guitar, and bass player for the industrial band Nine Inch Nails. Cortini also fronts the electronic-alternative band SONOIO and was a touring member of The Mayfield Four. He was a founding member of Modwheelmood and has released solo music under the name blindoldfreak. In 2021, Cortini introduced Strega, a patchable analogue synth instrument, in collaboration with Make Noise. In 2020, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Nine Inch Nails, becoming the first Italian to receive this honor.
