Alexander Paul Kapranos Huntley, born on 20 March 1972 in Almondsbury, South Gloucestershire, is a Scottish musician, singer, songwriter, record producer, and author. He is best known as the lead singer and lead guitarist of Scottish rock band Franz Ferdinand. Kapranos has also been part of the supergroups FFS and BNQT. Before his success in music, Kapranos held various jobs including chef, barman, music promoter, driver, welder, and IT lecturer. He was a fixture of the Glasgow music scene in the early 1990s, running live nights at The 13th Note Café, particularly The Kazoo Club. Kapranos attended the University of Aberdeen to study Theology and later studied at the University of Strathclyde, where he was awarded Alumnus of the Year in 2005.
