Alex Shimizu Biography
Alex Shimizu is an American actor of Japanese descent. He was born and raised in Manhattan, New York. Shimizu began his career as a dancer for the National Dance Institute while attending Hunter College Elementary School, where he was mentored by founder Jacques d'Amboise. He appeared alongside d'Amboise on the CBS Evening News and NPR with guest host Christopher Walken. Shimizu has performed Off Broadway and was featured in the film adaptation of Julie Taymor's A Midsummer Night's Dream, which premiered at the 2014 Toronto International Film Festival. He is best known for his recurring role as Tadashi Ito on the NBC series The Blacklist and as Toshiro Furuya on season 2 of AMC's The Terror, which focused on Japanese American internment camps during World War II.
