Hodge was born and raised in Sydney, Australia, with a mixed heritage of Irish and Chinese descent. He struggled with his Chinese ancestry during childhood due to societal stereotypes. Hodge began acting at the age of 13 and pursued it as a career after a rugby injury. He moved to New York to study at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and later relocated to Los Angeles after graduation in 2016.
