Alexander Ward
Alexander Ward (born 30 April 1990) is a retired British tennis player. He was born in Northampton, Northamptonshire, England, and educated at Northampton School for Boys. Ward achieved a career high ATP singles ranking of 242 on 6 June 2016, and a career high ATP doubles ranking of 379 on 9 September 2013. He made his ATP main draw debut at the 2013 MercedesCup, reaching the main draw after defeating Sandro Ehrat, Dustin Brown, and Ivo Minář in the qualifying rounds. Ward faced fifth seed Fabio Fognini in the main draw and lost 3–6, 6–7(5–7). In 2017, he competed at the Wimbledon Championships, losing to Kyle Edmund in the first round. Ward announced his retirement from professional tennis in September 2018.
