Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, also known as AOC, is an American politician and activist. Born on October 13, 1989, she has been serving as the U.S. representative for New York's 14th congressional district since 2019. A member of the Democratic Party, Ocasio-Cortez gained national recognition on June 26, 2018, when she won the Democratic Party's primary election for her district, defeating the 10-term incumbent Joe Crowley. This victory was considered a major upset in the 2018 midterms. Ocasio-Cortez is the youngest woman to ever serve in the United States Congress, taking office at the age of 29. She is known for her active presence on social media and has been reelected in the 2020 and 2022 elections.
