Ali Shaheed Muhammad
Ali Shaheed Muhammad (born August 11, 1970) is an American hip hop DJ, record producer, and rapper, best known for his role as a member of the influential hip hop group A Tribe Called Quest. Alongside Q-Tip and Phife Dawg, Muhammad contributed to the group's success, releasing five studio albums from 1990 to 1998. After the group disbanded, he formed the R&B supergroup Lucy Pearl and released a solo album in 2004. Muhammad is also a member of the music-production collective the Ummah. He has co-hosted the Microphone Check radio show and collaborated with prominent artists in the industry. Muhammad, who is a Muslim, resides in Los Angeles after growing up in Brooklyn, New York.
