Ali Velshi Biography
Ali Velshi is a Canadian television journalist and anchor for MSNBC. Born in Nairobi, Kenya, on October 29, 1968 or 1969, Velshi was raised in Toronto, Ontario, after moving there in 1971. He is of Gujarati Indian descent and follows the Ismaili Muslim faith. Velshi joined NBC News in October 2016 as a senior economic and business correspondent. He serves as an anchor on MSNBC and has been a substitute anchor for various shows on NBC News and MSNBC. Prior to joining NBC, Velshi worked for CNN as the Chief Business Correspondent and hosted shows like Your Money and World Business Today on CNN International. He also hosted Ali Velshi on Target on Al Jazeera America before its closure in 2016.
