Amanda Barker

Amanda J. Barker is an American, Canadian, and Italian comedic and dramatic actress, writer, director, and producer. She is best known for her roles in The Handmaid's Tale, Ginny and Georgia, Mayor of Kingstown, American Gods, and Murdoch Mysteries. Born in Hanover, Massachusetts to Daniel Barker and Valerie Gibson Barker, Amanda Barker grew up in Woodstock, New Brunswick after her father became CEO of Sabian Cymbals. She graduated from Mount Allison University with a double major in English Literature and Drama, along with a minor in Canadian Studies. Barker initially worked as an English teacher in Seoul and later became major league baseball's only female mascot, Diamond, with the Toronto Blue Jays. She then pursued acting in Toronto, joining the Second City comedy troupe.
