Amanda Palmer

Amanda Palmer, born Amanda MacKinnon Gaiman Palmer on April 30, 1976, is an American singer, songwriter, musician, and performance artist. She is best known as the lead vocalist, pianist, and lyricist of the duo The Dresden Dolls. Palmer has also had a successful solo career and was a member of the duo Evelyn Evelyn. She later became the lead singer and songwriter of Amanda Palmer and the Grand Theft Orchestra. Known for her cult fanbase, Palmer was one of the pioneers in using crowdfunding websites to fund her projects. Born in New York City, Palmer grew up in Lexington, Massachusetts. She attended Lexington High School and later studied theater at Wesleyan University. Palmer is also the founder of the Shadowbox Collective, a performance group focused on street theatre.
