Amanda Ryan is an English actress, born on October 10, 1971. She trained at London's Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. Ryan is best known for her role as Sgt. Carrie Rogers in Channel 4's popular comedy drama Shameless. She also gained international recognition for playing Lettice Howard in the Academy Award-winning film Elizabeth in 1998. In addition, she appeared in the film Metroland in 1997 and the Inspector Morse episode 'The Daughters of Cain' as Kay Brooks. Ryan has also been featured in productions like Attachments, Britannic, The Forsyte Saga, and the 1999 BBC adaptation of David Copperfield. She most recently portrayed Verity Wright in EastEnders.
