Ameenah Kaplan

Ameenah Kaplan is an American actress, musician, and choreographer. She was born on June 17, 1974, in Denver, Colorado, and raised in Atlanta. Kaplan graduated from Avondale High School for the Performing Arts and attended Tisch School of the Arts at New York University, where she trained in their experimental theater wing. She is also a graduate of the Academy of Art University film school. Kaplan has been a drummer since age 12 and was a member of the original American cast of STOMP. She is currently the west coast drum coach for Blue Man Group. Kaplan has played drums and/or percussion with various artists, including Ty Taylor of Vintage Trouble, Adam Lambert, and Rihanna. She has performed on numerous TV shows, including Oprah, Conan O’Brien, and the Tonight Show. Kaplan is currently the resident director of The Lion King on Broadway.
